Job Description The MEP Manager will be based in our Ho Chi Minh City operations centre in Vietnam and will have responsibility for managing the delivery of Atlas’ MEP services for our international clients. This diverse role will require you to oversee the delivery of MEP design and drawing packages and documentation on projects predominantly within the buildings sector. As this is a growing division within Atlas, you will initially be required to manage external MEP service providers and will play an active part in identifying, bidding and winning new work. The successful individual will ensure technical excellence throughout the division and will play an integral part in the growth, strategic leadership and operational performance of our MEP division.
Reports to: Atlas Operations Manager
Roles and Responsibilities • Provide MEP expertise on conceptual bids to ensure all MEP systems are accurately estimated and all system components are included. • Provide estimating budgets ensuring all MEP components are included and price estimates are accurate and realistic. • Review drawings and calculations and generate drawing review comments that indicate technical or constructability issues, incomplete scope of work and dimensional problems to ensure timely correction and early detection of any potential issues. • Provide input to and help maintain company MEP strategy, business plan, standard processes, MEP Handbook and Best Practices. • Integrate and align MEP activities and processes with Quality and Production Systems. • Develop and provide standardised MEP training for MEP Engineers and Project Team Members. • Become the Atlas Subject Matter Expert and coordinate the deployment of internal MEP expertise across the company. • Provide project support for MEP planning, constructability reviews, design development, submittal reviews, commissioning planning, testing, documentation, etc. as required. • Develop Atlas into a recognised MEP delivery company to consulting engineers and contractors and assist with marketing this to our customers. • Develop techniques to benchmark against other industry leaders, define and establish company goals, and monitor performance within the MEP division. • Develop and maintain world-class processes and techniques to support projects that distinguishes Atlas from competitors. • Ensure development and compliance with the approved Design BIM Management Plan. • Coordinate technical discipline BIM development, standards, data requirements, etc. as required with the Design Team BIM Manager. • Overall responsibility for the MEP BIM model creation and information developed during design and construction. • Act as the main point of contact for BIM and related issues between the MEP team, subcontractors, the Design Team, and others as required. • Ensure that the MEP team has necessary hardware and BIM Software properly installed and accessible for project use. • Coordinate construction sequencing and scheduling activities, and assure they are integrated with the Construction BIM. • Communicate with the Design Team and coordinate the data extraction sets required by the construction trades. • Coordinate with the Design Team to ensure that design changes in the field have been documented and are updated in the BIM in a timely manner.
Skills and Experience • This position requires a minimum of 8 - 12 years of MEP construction engineering experience. • Must have thorough knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems. • Proven ability to: - manage multiple projects concurrently; - manage teams and external consultants; - work under pressure; and - meet tight deadlines. • Strong ability to solve problems proactively. • Proactive, diligent and self-motivated. • Excellent attention to detail. • Has an appreciation of the quality expected by Atlas and its clients. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels. • Candidate must be a team player and have excellent organisational skills.
Qualifications • Ideally candidates will have a BEng (or equivalent) in a relevant building services discipline and will ideally be a member of an relevant professional body such as CIBSE, EI or similar. • Applications are also invited from candidates with recognised M&E qualifications at HNC/HND level or above, providing he/she has demonstrable experience in managing teams and client liaison.
Software Skills • Excellent skills for MS Office suite including Word and PowerPoint. • Experience with MS Project. • Experience with AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP and Navisworks is essential.
Additional Requirements • Ability to travel overseas if necessary. • Possesses a valid passport with no restrictions. • Preparedness to work overtime as required. • To undertake any other duties or roles as deemed necessary by Atlas CEO and Operations Manager. • Broad experience and understanding of the UK and Middle East architectural and engineering industry. • Established contacts either in the UK, Middle East or Australian engineering communities would be beneficial to this role. • Previous experience of working in other countries or with different cultures would be beneficial.
